Violinist Benny Kim has performed on five continents and in almost twenty countries. He has performed with the symphony orchestras of Chicago, Boston, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit, Houston, Utah, Denver, San Diego, Phoenix and Chattanooga. Internationally, he has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Mexico, and the major orchestras of South Africa. He has collaborated with many of today's new generation of conductors including Marin Alsop, Keith Lockhart, Robert Bernhardt, Enrique Diemecke, Raymond Harvey, Alasdair Neale, Eiji Oue and Christopher Wilkins. As a recitalist, Mr. Kim has performed in virtually every major city in the United States including two critically acclaimed engagements at New York's 92nd St. "Y" and a recital at Washington DC's Kennedy Center.

Most recently, Mr. Kim appeared with the symphonies of Baton Rouge, Flint, Wyoming and Waterbury and enjoyed an extensive recital tour in Wyoming. In April 1999, Mr. Kim had spectacular appearances with the Utah Symphony, under Keith Lockhart and the Chattanooga Symphony, under Robert Bernhardt.

An avid chamber musician, Mr. Kim devotes much of his time to performing in numerous festivals around the world. He has performed at, among others, the festivals of Aspen, Bravo! Colorado, Chamber Music Northwest, Music from Angel Fire, Vancouver, Santa Fe and the Marlboro Music Festival. Summer 1999 festival highlights include chamber music performances with Pinchas Zukerman at the Santa Fe Festival and with Robert Bernhardt at the Sewanee Festival (TN). He will also appear as a guest artist at Vail Valley Music Festival, "SummerFest La Jolla" and Music from Angel Fire.

Internationally, Mr. Kim has appeared at the Dubrovnik Music Festival in the former Yugoslavia as well as performances throughout France. He has collaborated with many renowned artists including Pinchas Zukerman, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and Lynn Harrell. With Ms. Salerno-Sonnenberg he appears on two recordings for EMI, Bella Italia and Night and Day. Mr. Kim has also recorded for the Centaur label.

A passionate proponent of bringing the arts to the people, Mr. Kim has given countless school concerts, lecture-demonstrations, and "informances" to students of all levels, senior citizens, and various other groups. As Mr. Kim states, "Some of the most moving and powerful moments I have ever experienced have occurred during these performances. I want to reach as many people as possible who would not otherwise have the opportunity to be touched by music."

A graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with Dorothy DeLay, Mr. Kim now makes his home in Kansas City where he is currently Professor of Violin at the University of Missouri/Kansas City Conservatory of Music. An obsessed golfer, he is always looking for a game, carrying his clubs and a 7 handicap. When not golfing, one can find Benny Kim with one of his closest companions, his golden retriever Sebastian.
